Quick way to add selling

Needed to add a buy button to my blog. The process was fast. Support helped with a small embed problem. Worked well.

Good features, some setup quirks

I signed up for the Venture plan to integrate an online store with my existing Squarespace site. The setup for the Instant Site part was straightforward and quick. Integrating it into my main site took a bit more effort than I expected, the instructions were a little vague in places, but I got there eventually. I liked the automated tax calculation, that saved me some headaches. Overall, a solid platform for the price, especially without transaction fees, but be prepared to dig a bit for some of the integration details.

Easy store setup

I used the Free Forever Plan to set up a basic online store. It was very easy to get products listed and the store live. The interface for inventory management was intuitive. I connected it to my Facebook page without issue. The free plan limits features, but it's a good starting point.

Does Ecwid charge transaction fees on sales? That's something I really want to avoid if possible.

R Raj 1 month ago
Nope, no transaction fees from Ecwid itself. Whatever your payment gateway charges is all you'll pay.

K Kate 1 month ago
That's one of the big perks! Ecwid doesn't charge transaction fees. Just the monthly (or annual) plan fee, and whatever your chosen payment processor takes.

Anyone know how Ecwid stacks up against Shopify? I'm trying to decide between the two for my online store, mostly selling physical goods.

B Brett Torres 1 month ago
I switched from Shopify to Ecwid last year. Ecwid was way easier to integrate into my existing site. Shopify has more features out of the box but also feels more locked-in. No transaction fees on Ecwid either, which is huge.

Ecwid is generally cheaper and good if you already have a website. Shopify is more powerful for standalone stores, but the monthly costs add up, especially with transaction fees if you don't use their payment gateway.

Are there any promo codes floating around for Ecwid? Looking to upgrade to a paid plan soon and would love to save some money.

C Cody C. 2 months ago
Sometimes they have holiday deals, like for Black Friday. Also, if you sign up for annual billing instead of monthly, you usually get a discount automatically.

Check their website around major holidays. I got a pretty sweet deal on my first year for Cyber Monday. And yeah, annual billing saves you about 25% anyway.

How's the payment gateway situation with Ecwid? Do they support a lot of different options, or am I limited to just PayPal?

T Todd Romero 1 month ago
They support a ton. I use Stripe for my payments, but I've seen options for Square and PayPal and others. Pretty flexible.

You're not limited at all! They integrate with a bunch of popular gateways like Stripe, PayPal, Square, and more. Should be fine for whatever you prefer.

I heard something about a free trial for the paid features. How does that work? Is it a full month or just a few days?

D Dana S. 1 month ago
It's usually a 30-day free trial. Gives you enough time to really check out all the features before committing.

R Raj E. 1 month ago
Yeah, it's a solid 30-day trial for the paid plans. You get to test everything out before you decide if it's worth it for you.

Hey, thinking of trying Ecwid for my small craft business. Is it actually free to start, like for real, or are there hidden fees that pop up right away?

D David P. 1 month ago
Yeah, the free plan is legit. I've been using it for a few months for my digital art and haven't paid anything. You can't sell a ton of products but it's great for getting started.

C Chris 1 month ago
It's free for sure, but there are limits. Like, only a few products and no advanced features. If you want more, you'll need a paid plan, but no hidden fees on the free one.

I'm looking to set up an online store for my handmade jewelry. Does Ecwid work well with Instagram shopping? Trying to get my stuff seen there.

D Daisy Reyes 2 months ago
Yep, it does! I connected my Ecwid store to my Instagram profile and it works pretty smoothly. Takes a little setup but then you can tag products in your posts.

K Kate 2 months ago
Yes, you can totally integrate Ecwid with Instagram. It's one of their main selling points for social selling. Makes it easier for customers to buy directly.

Can I use my own domain name if I go with Ecwid? Or am I stuck with an Ecwid.com subdomain or something?

J Josh Z. 2 months ago
Yeah, you can connect your own domain. I did it for my site, it's pretty straightforward in the settings.
6
R Ryan 2 months ago
Definitely. It's a standard feature for their paid plans. No problem using your own custom domain.
